One weekend I checked out this coffee “bar” from a friend’s recommendation.
At Intelligentsia Coffee, beans are sourced via direct trade from growers in places like Peru, Rwanda, Guatemala, Kenya and Honduras to name a few. They are committed to healthy environmental and sustainable social practices.
Their Venice coffeebar location on Abbot Kinney has a hidden entrance filled with people waiting in line. Once inside, the place resembles a busy coffee shop factory with baristas dressed in 1920’s vests and hats that cater you with personal service. They offer a one page coffee menu and a few pastry goodies (including Red Velvet whoopie pies!) to accompany your drink.
The coffeebar takes center stage while seating surrounds the action like a theatre. The items here are quite pricey but the coffee quality is distinct.
If you’re ever in the Venice area, you should definitely drop by and try it out!
